Amber has given birth to 4 puppies 2 dogs and 2 bitches she started at 9.00 this morning and had the last one at about 12.00. They are VERY BIG and she did an amazing job, I only had to "help" her with the second one who came feet first and got his head stuck.
I will take some pictures tomorrow once Amber has had time to bond with them and to have a well deserved rest.
She has just had a slice of cheese on toast and a drink , been out for a "wee" and is now back with her babies.
It is going to be a long week as I will be up every couple of hours during the night just to make sure that all is well with Mum and babies.
To every one who has either emailed or phoned me I will be in touch towards the end of the week for a chat.

The final count down
We are now on the home straight, with a week to go. That is if she goes for the full 63 days for the last litter she went for 59 days so the puppies could be with us any day now.
The whelping box is made and in place (The cat loves it !)
The puppy pen is in place and we are all waiting with bated breath for the puppies to arrive.
Amber has slowed right down now and is eating for at least 7 !
She is very clingy and wants to be close to me all the time.
Fern is wondering what on earth is going on her Mum wont play with her in the garden and has told her off more than once for jumping on her.
Poor Fern she is going to have such a shock once the puppies arrive as she is such a Mummy's girl and sleeps cuddled up with Amber every night.
She is going to need extra cuddles and attention once the puppies are here.

Less than 2 weeks to go!!!
These pictures where taken this morning
Amber s now starting to look VERY pregnant and has started to slow down over the last week.
she is enjoying laying in the sun in the garden and in the front window.
Fern can't understand why she won't run around and play with her any more.
I am still taking her out walking but I am now keeping her on a flexi lead this has two advantages first it means that she cant rush around getting to tired and secondly it keeps her away from strange dogs who might have some kind of infection that might harm her and the puppies.
I am going to be building her whelping box in the next couple of days so as that she can start to get used to it. I really don't want her giving birth on my new sofa!!
Ruby her Mum once gave birth on my bed ruining the quilt and mattress!!

6 Weeks in
Amber is now 6 weeks into her pregnancy and is growing bigger every day.
She is also very hungry so is having extra rations . I have started to worm her every day now this will continue until the puppies are 3 days old. Doing this will help to reduce the worm burden that the puppies are born with so giving them a better start in life. The puppies will then be wormed at 2, 5, and 8 weeks.
If you are interested in giving a new forever home to one of these exceptional puppies then please email me in the first instant as I have just had an opp and using the phone is not as easy as it might be!!

Playing the waiting game !
Amber and Mac have now been on 2 successful dates , now it is just a matter of time to see if we will be hearing the patter of tiny paws.
I will be changing Amber's food and starting to worm her every day in 4 weeks time this helps to reduce the worm burden that is passed onto the puppies and by feeding her a high protein food it will ensure that the growing puppies are getting the correct nutrition.
While it is not essential to do either of these I like to give the puppies the very best start in life and that starts even before they are born.

Amber is now in season
Amber is now in season and I am hoping to mate her to Mac again as they make such lovely puppies .Mac can be seen on the Yeovale kennel web site http://www.yeovale-kennels.co.uk/index.php Any puppies would be ready to go to their new homes around the 2nd week in August so great for house training and socialisation. I took Fern in to be weighed this morning and she is 5.6kg so still quite small and I would expect any puppies from this litter to be under 10kg so a nice size not to big but still very active and trainable.
I have added a picture of Amber and Fern
