What an exciting weeke have had !!!

Well I can't believe a week has almost gone since I last updated the blog, but what an exciting time we have had.
I have taken Amber and the puppies on a 550 mile road trip, from here in Cornwall to Slough in Berkshire.
Why you may well ask, well I was approached by Dogs Today magazine who are doing a Fido facts on cockerpoos in the March issue to take the puppies and Amber to a photo shoot which is held yes you guessed it in Slough.
So I packed up the car (you wouldn't believe how much "stuff" 7 puppies and their Mum need for 2 days away) and off we went (Becky came with me) to Slough.
You wouldn't have known that I had any dogs in the car they where so quiet and well behaved. I put the puppies in their crate and Amber sat in the boot as good as gold. we stopped at several service stations along the way for Amber to stretch her legs and have a wee, and for the puppies to have a bite to eat. We attracted quite a lot of attention where ever we stopped and have had the opportunity to tell people all about Cockerpoos, and what good pets they make.
We got rather lost finding where we were staying, (I NEVER want to drive in the dark and wet not knowing where I was going again.)The traffic was so much more intense than I am used to here in Cornwall.
We had to be at the photo studio in Slough for 9.30am and only found it with help from some very kind workmen who went out of their way to show me to the studio.
The puppies where SO well behaved and had a great time and "posed" like "pros".
Amber was unconcerned about the whole thing and was more interested in the "ham and hot dogs". Every one was impressed at how "laid back" all the puppies and Amber where by the whole thing.
The photographer took some GREAT shots of all 7 puppies and Amber. I will show you as soon as I receive the CD of the shoot.
On the way home we stopped at Membury services and met Paula and her family who are giving one of the dog puppies a home. Her little boy was more interested in getting a burger than the puppies.
We finally got home after a 6 hour drive but it was well worth it for the socialization and experiences it gave the puppies.
The puppies have slept for most of today afer their exciting time.

We are growing up oh so fast.

These are the 2 bitch puppies.

Their coats are starting to grow out.You can see that they are going to be full coated
They are getting cheekier day by day and are all out going and inquisitive looking to be out of their run and exploring at every opportunity. This morning there where only 5 puppies in the run and 2 under the T.V stand !!

What a busy day

We have had a very busy day today , not only has it been raining and blowing a gale all day so I haven't been able to get Max, Amber and Ruby out.
We have had 2 lovely families come to see the puppies.
The first family have chosen the dark blue and white collared dog, they are still deciding what his name will be. They where trying to decide between Barny and Ollie, when they left, only time will tell!!
The second family have chosen the yellow and white collared dog and are still trying to decide on his name.
So I now have 2 dogs and a bitch still looking for Very Good homes.
Sorry no new photos but the battery on the camera needs charging and I forgot.
Sorry

Out enjoying a walk in the sun

Just to prove that the sun does some times shine in Cornwall

Sunshine and a cuddle with Mummy

Today I removed the whelping box to give them all all a bit more room.
The sun has been out all day and the puppies enjoyed a cuddle with Amber in the sun.

More pictures

I couldn't resist showing you these.
Puppies sleeping in a puppy huddle.

Food and toy's and yet more food

Yesterday I gave the puppies their first toys ,as they are now starting to try and play with each other, they have had a whale of a time with them, and are staring to get the hang of play time.
But they are still sleeping for most of the day. They wake up to eat have a mad 10 minutes and then back to sleep for another few hours.
Amber is feeding them less now so I have had to step up and produce food every 4 hours, so I am feeding them at 3.00am for the next few days.

Getting stuck in !!!

Well they really have taken to solid food now and start asking to be fed as soon as they hear me coming.
They are also beginning to develop their own personalities now and the more adventurous ones are starting to push the boundaries and Amber is starting to tell them off if they over step the mark. All signs of being a great Mum.

3 weeks old today

Hi
Yes they have made it to 3 weeks and are definitely finding their voices and feet, They have taken to coming out of our box and wondering around looking for Mum, unfortunately this has meant that I have had to start shutting them in as I don't want any one getting hurt. They are still far to small and could easily get walked on or tripped over.
Sorry I don't have any pictures on this P.C but will try and post the latest ones later on.

Puppy training pads

I received the puppy training pads I ordered from ebay yesterday and the puppies took to them straight away.
All of this means that they are rapidly out growing the whelping box and will soon need moving to a bigger area.

First steps to independence .

The puppies are now nearly 3 weeks old and are getting bigger, noisier and are moving around a lot more.
So last night they took their fist step to independence and had their first taste of solid food, well a wet sloppy mix of soaked puppy food, which they walked in slid in and then ate some. They liked it so much that when I next fed Amber they where out of the box and into her food.

More pictures

I am having to post the latest pictures in several lots as it wont let me post them all in one go

Today was nail cutting day

All the puppies had the last dose of wormer and their nails cut today. They have also started to move away from the sleeping area to go to the toilet. All of their eyes are now almost fully open and their ears will start to open within the next week.Once that has happened and they are more mobile they will need moving to a bigger area so that they can continue to develop their motor skills

Worming and weighing

Well we have made it to 2 weeks and today all the puppies where weighed and then wormed for the first time. they are going to be wormed again for the next 2 days and then again at 5 weeks for 3 days and then at 8 weeks. Not their favorite thing but essential for their well being.
I have photoed all the puppies today as well so for the first time I will try and post photos of them all individually.

Viewings and Deposits

Hi
I have emailed everyone (I hope I haven't missed any one out) who has emailed me regarding coming to see the puppies. They will be ready for viewings after 15th November.
I will be taking £100 deposit to hold the puppy you choose.
I know that for some of you coming to Cornwall to see the puppies is not going to be possible so you can give me a call on 01726 850636 between 10.00 12.30 am or after 6.30 in the evening . This will give you the chance to ask any questions you may have, and for me to find out a little bit about you. Or if you want to come and visit us to arrange a time.
The puppies are available on a first come first serve basis. This is to be fair to every one.

Where have the last few days gone?

The puppies are now 12 days old and growing at an alarming rate. Their eyes are just beginning to open so they should be able to see the world around them very soon.
Amber is spending less time with them now and has joined Ruby and Max again on their daily walks. ( I make sure that the puppies have just fed and that they are going to be warm enough). She always rushes back to them.
I have just received their first proper collars so they are all looking very smart now. not only does this make it far easier to tell them apart but it also gets them used to waring a collar from a very early age. this saves on stress later on.
