101 post's !!

This is my 101st post, what an earth have I found to write about?

Well I now only have Ziggy at home as Poppy and Nelly went yesterday afternoon and Charlie has gone this morning.

The house seems so quiet now and Ziggy is looking forlorn .

I am going to reduce the size of the puppy pen and use it like a crate so he doesn't feel so lonely.

Good luck to Poppy,Nelly and Charlie I hope you settle into your new families VERY quickly.

I hope to see pictures of you all very soon be good and take care.

No posts for ages and then 2 in the same day!!

All of the puppies have been to the vet this evening and have had a full health check.
They all passed with flying colours and enjoyed running riot in the vets.
They where weighed and I am going to worm them again this evening.
They weighed in like this
Ziggy 3.11 kg
Charlie 3.14 kg
Poppy 2.22 kg
Nelly 2.64 kg
So they have ALL grown a lot since I last wormed them.
I am looking forward to seeing you all again when you come to fetch your puppies but the house will be very quiet and calm with out them.

What a busy couple of weeks we have had.

It's a hard life being a puppy

You can't see me now!!

This is the life playing with friends

Having a cuddle and watch the fish

Of we go trouble in a trolly

Waiting to leave I wonder where we could be going ?

All of the puppies are doing REALY well and are enjoying their socialisation time, they have been for lots of rides in the car, I have taken them to sit out side Asda and watch all of the different people go by with their buggies and trolleys.

They have been shopping in Pets at Home twice now and love all of the attention they get, they sit in the trolley and bring the store to a stand still. The assistant manager has a cockerpoo called Colin so they always get an extra treat from her.

We have had lots of people round to see the puppies including all of my neighbors and family's coming to meet their puppy for the first time.

Today they are going to the vets for their health check and another chance to meet lots more people.

I have been run off my feet as my Son who has lived away from home for the last 5 years turned up on the door step saying he has come home to live now!!

Also my father is very ill and has been in hospital so I had Mum and Dad's dog Daisy to stay and have been hospital visiting, which wouldn't be a problem if the hospital wasn't over 20 miles away.

We are 5 weeks old now

The puppies are now 5 weeks old and yesterday they where weighed and wormed, they have all put on loads of weight . They didn't like the wormer but will have to put up with it as they will have to take it again today and tomorrow!!
Green circle collar (Ziggy) 2.00Kg
Blue spotted collar (Monty) 1.9Kg
Purple circle collar (Nelly) 1.8 Kg
Pink spotted collar (Petal) 1.6Kg.
I haven't been able to get them out into the garden for the last couple of days as we have had the most awful weather with driving rain and gale force winds so not ideal for puppies.
Monty had a visit from his potential new family yesterday and all of the puppies had a great time playing with the children and slept for hours once they had gone home.

Sorry,sorry sorry

This is the little bitch who is looking for a home. She's the smallest of the litter but still lots of personality. I have called her Petal.

Sorry its been so long since I last updated. I haven't been very well and then my camera got left out in the rain so we had to wait until it had dried out before I could use it again. Then I had a round trip of over 100 miles for a check up at the hospital. Hopefully I'll be able to keep you more up to date now.

The puppies are all doing well and are growing fast. They are playing more and more every day and are getting more bolder in exploring there surroundings. We have had them out in the garden the last few days and they have been really enjoying the sunshine. Fern has been having lots of fun trying to play with them even though she is a lot larger than they are.

Nelly and Monty's new owners have both been to visit us and we all had a great time playing with all of the puppies.
We are still looking for a home for the other bitch. She is the smallest of the 4 and has got a lovely temperament but she can be quite shy at times and so may be better suited to a quieter household.

I shall be posting some more videos on you tube for you all to watch soon.

My daughter shall be taking over the blog as she is on the computer a lot more than I am and so is likely to update it more often for you.

Thanks

Karen.

Wow what a lovely sunny day

Getting ready to go out to play

Love me love my brother

Come on Fern please play with me.

We have had our first escapee today, this morning at 6.30 I got up to let all of the dogs out and couldn't work out why Amber didn't comming running as normal and why there was such a racket comming from the front room, so went to investigate and found one of the puppies had escaped from the whelping box and had got himself wedged under the fire and Amber was desperately trying to get him out. He was quickly rescued with no harm done and Amber rushed out into the garden.

I have now had to raise the height of the entrance of the whelping box much to their disgust.

The puppies have been out into the garden twice today to make the most of the lovely weather we are having.

You tube

I have uploaded some more short clips onto YouTube.
The puppies are getting more and more active and making more and more noise.
I have wormed them for the last 3 days and will do them again at 5 weeks.
Tomorrow I am going to start them on to solid food as I think they are needing more than Amber can now provide, she has done an amazing job so far and now it is time for me to step in and give her a hand. I have had to take her food bowl out of the whelping box as the puppies keep on trying to get into it.

You tube

I am currently uploading the latest videos of Amber and the puppies on to you tube as the quality and length of time it takes to upload them on to this blog is not good.
You can hopefully see them at my user name which is amberandfern.
I have never used you tube before so hope I have got it right.
The puppies are all well this morning and will be wormed again later if the you tube works I will try and get a video of it for you to see.

the link for the first video is

Show ALL you friends and family !!

Today's photos

Ruby in the puppies box she like to get into the smallest box available.
Another one
Our first outing
Children's T.V
How close can I get !!
We like the feel of this funny green stuff.

2 weeks and an what an exciting day we have had.

The puppies are now 2 weeks old and what an exciting day they have had, first off they has their first trip out into the garden to get used to the feel of the grass under their paws.
Amber was quiet happy to feed them alfresco and even allowed Fern a closer look as the video hopefully shows.

Once they where safely back indoors on a nice clean blanket having their hour of children's T.V this will get them used to the sound of children's voices which are much higher than adults so they will be getting an hour a day.
Then they had to be weighed and wormed they all took their medicine very well they weighed in like this
Chocolate dog 960g
Pale dog 1.kg
Pink spot bitch 825g
Purple circle bitch 820g
So they are all growing well and are starting to move around the whelping box more and more.
They are now also starting to show their personality which is interesting to watch.

l I am thankful to say that I didn't need a new camera all I needed was a new set of batteries so I am back taking LOTS of pictures of the puppies.

They are 11 days old today and are starting to open their eyes and are a lot more mobile, Amber is starting to leave them for a little while but only after they have been fed cleaned and are all piled up fast asleep. She even had a game with Fern out in the garden.

Second time lucky or not

Fern taken last night

One of the Bitch puppies
All having tea together

I am trying to upload the latest video of the puppies but blogger wont let me for some reason. So I have uploaded some more pictures instead.
I am going to try and clip the puppies nails later on as they are just beginning to get sharp and I don't want them scratching Amber while they are feeding.I am also going to put on their collars so that we can tell them apart.
So I will try and get lots more individual photos at the same time for you all.
I have included the latest one of Fern so as that she wont feel to left out, I showed her one of the puppies yesterday while Amber was in the garden attending to a call of nature and she was VERY interested in it but VERY gentle to.

Pictures of Fern

Fern at 9 months

Fern last week

Fern at 3 months

Fern at 2 weeks

A couple of people have asked me to put some photos of Fern on to the blog so that they can get an idea of what the puppies MAY and I must STRESS that it is only MAY LOOK LIKE as they grow , but EVERY Cockerpoo is different even in THE SAME LITTER. This is due to the cross breeding and to many the unknown quality is what makes cockerpoos SO SPECIAL.

Fern is VERY small (she weighs 5.4 kg and is under 12"tall) for a Cockerpoo and it is very likely that these puppies will be both taller and heavier than she is.

Look at how we have grown

Amber keeping the puppies clean and giving them their lunch at
the same time.

The CHAMPAINE DOG puppies

The CHOCOLATE DOG puppy

The puppies are nearly a week old where has the time gone.

They have grown so much in the last week and are getting more noisy and are moving around in the whelping box a lot more.

Amber is now leaving them for longer periods of time and even wanted to come out for a walk with Ruby and Fern this morning but I had to leave her behind as I knew i was going to be out for a couple of hours which is just to long to leave the puppies at this stage.

I have been doing some on line research on early socialisation of puppies and I was doing most of it any way but it made interesting reading and has LOT'S of information for once you get your puppy home. http://www.openpaw.org

The first 24 hours

Amber has had a great first 24 hours with her new puppies.

She has only left then to go into the garden to go to the loo and that was very reluctantly and she was straight back to them.

I spent the last night on the sofa just to make sure every one was OK, and will probably be spending the next few nights there as well.

Poor Fern is still very bewildered as to where these noisy things that have taken over her Mums time have come from.

I have posted some pictures of Ruby and Fern as I don't want them to feel left out.

This video hopefully shows the puppies having lunch.

Good news the PUPPIES have arrived

Amber has given birth to 4 puppies 2 dogs and 2 bitches she started at 9.00 this morning and had the last one at about 12.00. They are VERY BIG and she did an amazing job, I only had to "help" her with the second one who came feet first and got his head stuck.
I will take some pictures tomorrow once Amber has had time to bond with them and to have a well deserved rest.
She has just had a slice of cheese on toast and a drink , been out for a "wee" and is now back with her babies.
It is going to be a long week as I will be up every couple of hours during the night just to make sure that all is well with Mum and babies.
To every one who has either emailed or phoned me I will be in touch towards the end of the week for a chat.
Karen Amber and 4 very cute puppies.

The final count down

We are now on the home straight, with a week to go. That is if she goes for the full 63 days for the last litter she went for 59 days so the puppies could be with us any day now.

The whelping box is made and in place (The cat loves it !)

The puppy pen is in place and we are all waiting with bated breath for the puppies to arrive.

Amber has slowed right down now and is eating for at least 7 !

She is very clingy and wants to be close to me all the time.

Fern is wondering what on earth is going on her Mum wont play with her in the garden and has told her off more than once for jumping on her.

Poor Fern she is going to have such a shock once the puppies arrive as she is such a Mummy's girl and sleeps cuddled up with Amber every night.

She is going to need extra cuddles and attention once the puppies are here.

Less than 2 weeks to go!!!

These pictures where taken this morning

Amber s now starting to look VERY pregnant and has started to slow down over the last week.

she is enjoying laying in the sun in the garden and in the front window.

Fern can't understand why she won't run around and play with her any more.

I am still taking her out walking but I am now keeping her on a flexi lead this has two advantages first it means that she cant rush around getting to tired and secondly it keeps her away from strange dogs who might have some kind of infection that might harm her and the puppies.

I am going to be building her whelping box in the next couple of days so as that she can start to get used to it. I really don't want her giving birth on my new sofa!!

Ruby her Mum once gave birth on my bed ruining the quilt and mattress!!

Monday 23 May 2011

6 Weeks in

Amber is now 6 weeks into her pregnancy and is growing bigger every day.

She is also very hungry so is having extra rations . I have started to worm her every day now this will continue until the puppies are 3 days old. Doing this will help to reduce the worm burden that the puppies are born with so giving them a better start in life. The puppies will then be wormed at 2, 5, and 8 weeks.

If you are interested in giving a new forever home to one of these exceptional puppies then please email me in the first instant as I have just had an opp and using the phone is not as easy as it might be!!

looking back at the last litter of puppies

I have been looking back at the pictures of Ambers last litter, they where wonderful puppies and have grown up into even better dogs.

These pictures where taken by Tim the DOGS TODAY photographer when we all went to Slough for a photo shoot, we even made the FRONT COVER.

Playing the waiting game !

Amber and Mac have now been on 2 successful dates , now it is just a matter of time to see if we will be hearing the patter of tiny paws.

I will be changing Amber's food and starting to worm her every day in 4 weeks time this helps to reduce the worm burden that is passed onto the puppies and by feeding her a high protein food it will ensure that the growing puppies are getting the correct nutrition.

While it is not essential to do either of these I like to give the puppies the very best start in life and that starts even before they are born.
